Tips
- Request loss runs from every insurer you had in the last 3–5 years — liability, cargo and physical damage can be with different companies.
- Ask for currently valued reports; many underwriters want them dated within 30–90 days of the quote.
- Sign on company letterhead when you can; many insurers will only release loss runs to the named insured or agent of record.
- Start 60–90 days before renewal and keep a copy of every request you send.
