How to request loss runs from Markel

   Named insured exactly as on the policy, USDOT and MC numbers, policy number(s) and the policy periods you need (usually the last 3–5 years).

   Create a signed request

   Submit through Markel's official form

   Follow up

   Markel doesn't publish a turnaround on the pages we checked — follow up if you haven't heard back, and start 60–90 days before renewal.

Tips

• Request loss runs from every insurer you had in the last 3–5 years — liability, cargo and physical damage can be with different companies.
• Ask for currently valued reports; many underwriters want them dated within 30–90 days of the quote.
• Sign on company letterhead when you can; many insurers will only release loss runs to the named insured or agent of record.
• Start 60–90 days before renewal and keep a copy of every request you send.
